Coppa Milano-Sanremo 2010
The eighth revival of the Coppa Milano-Sanremo is to take place from 12 to 14 March 2010. The event sees the rally of historic cars start in the centre of Milan and travel south west towards Sanremo during the three day event. The cars eligible for entry are those which were built during the dates of the original events, held from 1906 to 1973, and are a fabulous array of motoring history.
Starting in the Piazza Duomo in Milan at 9am on Saturday 13 March, the event will see the cars travel to Sanremo, following the route dictated in the official road book, to be announced on the first day of the event. Along the way the entrants will complete 24 timed driving tests and 6 to 8 timed checkpoints, before arriving in Sanremo on the afternoon of Sunday 14 March.
The rally sees the cars travel along open, public roads, taking in towns and villages as well as mountainous and coastal regions. As the roads are not closed for the event, the average travelling speed is just 35 km per hour, and the skill of the navigator is crucial to ensure the timed tests and checkpoints are met.
Post Vintage Managing Director, Adrian Johnson, is competing in this year’s event in his Aston Martin DBMKIII. The event will form part of Adrian’s honeymoon as he will be competing with his partner, Clare, who he is marrying on Saturday 6 March 2010. Clare shares Adrian’s love of racing and chose their wedding date to fit in around the racing calendar!
We wish Adrian and Clare every success in the event and their future together.
