This DB5 was in dry storage for many years until it was acquired by Post Vintage via Bonhams Aston Martin auction in 2006. It is now subject of a total rebuild to the highest of standards including many modifications to make the car more usable in the modern world.
The car has been stripped to its bare shell and the body skin has been removed, an essential part of a rebuild if the ultimate car is to be produced. The steel work has been bead blasted, repaired and powder coated to provide strength, resilience and a long lifespan, the roof, boot and bonnet skins have all been repaired and other aluminium work was entirely replaced to the highest quality.
The body has been finished in the correct shade of Aston Martin Silver Birch and the interior has been retrimmed in the correct Connolly 3086 red with red Wilton carpets. Heat and sound proofing has also been installed for a more comfortable driving experience.
The car has been fitted with uprated suspension with all new bushes, links and gaiters, rebuilt brake callipers and discs. The gearbox is the original 5 speed ZF unit which has been rebuilt with new bearings and seals.
The engine is also being rebuilt to 4.2 litre specification with Cosworth pistons, new bearings and chains, to name but a few items, and the cylinder head has been built to lead free specification and with uprated valves for higher performance.
A complete, new stainless steel exhaust system of the highest specification has been selected and the limited slip axle has been rebuilt. All wiring and lights are new as is the windscreen and a Post Vintage designed air conditioning system is fitted to further enhance the driving experience.
For the final touch, the signature Aston hallmarks, the brightwork has been reworked or re-chromed, as appropriate, to complete the ultimate finish to this fabulous car. A set of Borrani wheels have also been fitted.
Now complete, this project can be viewed using the gallery link below. Photogrpahs of the completed car will be added soon.
